Not As Big As Its “Name”

Thank you in advance for publishing a piece of my story. Hope everyone is doing great. Feedbacks, advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Alright, to start with this is about my sister who works as a medical practinioner for a year in a highly reputed medical centre. My sister is definitely a workaholic, punctual (never been late), only takes leave with purpose, no MC unless hospitalized (happened twice since she works here). 99% of her leave was not approved because it was booked for Supervisor and her beloved friends.

On Monday, our dad received a call from government office regards to an oath taking ceremony which falls on first week of October. It’s compulsary for him to bring two children and we decided my brother and her should go because I have no leave balance, can’t afford to take unpaid leave as I have taken few already. So on Tuesday morning she met her supervisor who’s in charge of the schedule and leave application and requested to apply for leave but before she could explain further her supervisor rejected and shut her off. Fyi, my sister is defenseless when it comes to work as she’s afraid she might get terminated due to 3 years of waiting to work in this medical centre.

After her leave request has been rejected, she follow the hierarchy which is apply to department manager but department manager was very busy and couldn’t spare time to listen. So she called me and we discuss, due to the seriousness of this matter which is tied and ordered by the law, I suggested that I would call her supervisor and explain the situation and ask for her consideration that her action might effect my sister, and I called but before I could explain, this rude lady told me “this is the first time someone called to apply for leave on behalf”, and damn I was pissed. I told her “I am not applying on behalf, I’m trying to explain to you that if my sister disregards the law, she’s going to bear the consequences not you, I will bring this up to Director “. Once I mentioned the director’s name, she completely avoid the situation and put me through the department manager and it gets worst which, I was told “your sister should talk to me not you” which in my heart says she did but no assholes are listening. She told me she will talk to my sister so I agreed.

Guess what happened this morning? That’s right, the rude lady – supervisor, complaint to the head of department regarding this and my sister gets a counselling. Head of department (HOD) told her she followed the correct procedure but it went wrong when I called and mention director’s name, due to this, it will be brought up to the director. Nevertheless, her leave was approved and according to her HOD there’s a policy says “mentioning director’s name is considered threatening”, in that case if a patient calls in to complaint, it won’t fall under threatening right? What a joke.

I know my sister should stood up but as far as I know, mentioning director’s name is not an offense, I believe the HOD isn’t smiling because this pictures how she managed her staffs. This is for the low mentality people like this rude lady here please consider your colleague, please bring your mentality to the same level as your company’s name. Sudah sudahlah menindas orang.
